SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Watertown Post 17’s season came to an end Friday with an 8-0 loss to Sioux Falls West at the Class A American Legion Baseball Tournament.
Watertown produced six hits on the day, led by Cain Everson, who went 2-for-3 at the plate. Sam Olson, Jonathan Lake, Kye Paulson and Jaxon Falak each added a hit.
Kooper Heiser started on the mound for Watertown, allowing six runs on six hits with four walks over 4 1/3 innings. Tripp Jorgenson took the loss, giving up two runs on two hits with three walks in one-third of an inning. Kasen Jensen pitched 1 1/3 innings of relief.
Sioux Falls West collected eight hits, led by Matnel Jensen, who went 2-for-2 with an RBI. Jack Hille, Bennett Duncan, Tucker DeHann, Jackson Dunn, Boston Bryant and Brody Jacobson each recorded a hit.
Kyler Boyd earned the win for Sioux Falls West, scattering five hits while striking out seven over six scoreless innings. Noah Grabow closed out the shutout with a one-hit inning in relief.
Sioux Falls West advances to the Class A championship game Saturday at 1 p.m. against the winner of Rapid City Post 22 and Yankton.
Watertown finishes its season with a 23-17 record.
