MITCHELL, S.D. — Four defensive errors proved costly for Castlewood on Saturday as the Ravens fell 7-1 to Canova in the opening round of the Class B Amateur Baseball Tournament.
With the loss, Castlewood wrapped up its season with an 11-6 record.
Lucas Ching drove in Castlewood’s lone run, finishing 1 for 3 at the plate. Tucker Wookey added a multi-hit performance for the Ravens, going 2 for 4.
Aidan Stewart took the loss on the mound for Castlewood, allowing four runs on seven hits with four strikeouts over five innings. Booker Schooley pitched three innings in relief, giving up three runs on three hits.
Canova racked up 10 hits in the contest, led by Garrett Gassman’s 2-for-3, three-RBI outing and a two-run homer from Dawson Baker in the seventh inning. Luke Koepsell earned the complete-game win for Canova, holding Castlewood to one run on six hits while striking out five.
