MITCHELL, S.D. — The dream season continued Saturday night for the Clark Traders, who edged the Hartford/Humboldt Wood Ducks 7-6 to advance to the championship game of the Class B Amateur Baseball Tournament.
Tied 6-6 in the bottom of the seventh inning, Jack Heesch drew a bases-loaded walk to force in the game-winning run.
Grayson Florey led the Traders’ offense, going 3-for-5 with two RBIs. Watson Grantham added two hits, while Zach Toben, Jakob Steen and Heesch each recorded one hit. Toben also drove in three runs.
On the mound, Toben earned the complete-game victory. He allowed six runs on 12 hits, struck out six and threw 134 pitches over seven innings.
Hartford/Humboldt collected 12 hits in the loss, led by Brodie Herr and Jearl Jesson with three hits apiece. CJ Den Boer and Keaton Vessells drove in two runs each. Tyler Tappe started on the mound for the Wood Ducks, giving up five runs on six hits with five strikeouts and five walks.
Clark will face the Alexandria Angels in the state championship game at 2 p.m. Sunday at Cadwell Park in Mitchell.
