MITCHELL, S.D. — A nine-run first inning proved too much to overcome as the Clark Traders fell 12-2 to the Alexandria Angels in the Class B Amateur Baseball State Championship Game on Sunday.
Alexandria set the pace early, racking up 13 hits in the contest. Ben Wilber led the Angels’ offensive surge, going 3-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs. Jerrod Zens, Dakota Munger, and Charlie Dubanoski each added two hits to the total.
Munger also dominated on the mound, throwing a complete game to earn the win. He allowed two runs on nine hits while striking out eight Traders.
Marik Junker and Jakob Steen paced the Clark offense with two hits apiece. Steen and Zach Toben drove in the Traders’ only runs of the afternoon.
Hudson Fuller took the loss for Clark, giving up nine runs on six hits in two-thirds of an inning before being relieved. Jack Heesch pitched the remainder of the game, allowing three runs on six hits with five walks.
Clark finishes the season with a 10-9 record and takes home the Class B runner-up trophy.
