SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The Watertown cross country team kicked off its season Thursday at the O’Gorman Invitational, highlighted by an individual title on the boys side and a third-place finish for the girls.
Dane Stark led the way for the Arrows, placing first in the boys race with a winning time of 12 minutes, 38.51 seconds.
Also scoring top-30 finishes for the Watertown boys were Evan Mack, who placed with a time of 14:47.44, and Logan Becker, who crossed the finish line in 14:54.54. Other Watertown competitors included Kaiser Lunde (14:57.07), Channing DeBoer (15:01.58), and Grady Lindgren (16:47.65).
In the girls race, Grace McElroy paced the Arrows by capturing the bronze medal with a time of 14:54.89.
Watertown placed three additional runners in the top 15: Kate McElroy finished ninth in 15:56.78, Lilly Gerlach placed 12th in 16:21.29, and Olivia Anderson took 15th in 16:28.26. Jayda Jensen (17:46.00) and Grace List (18:00.25) rounded out the effort for the girls squad.
The Arrows return to action Friday, Sept. 4, at the Augustana Twilight Meet in Sioux Falls.
