YANKTON, S.D. — Charlie Jacobson and Matt Johnson captured the Pre-Senior title, while Ryan Ames and Riley Ducanson claimed the Mid-Amateur crown at the South Dakota Golf Association Two-Man Championships this weekend at Hillcrest Golf and Country Club.
The two-day tournament featured a four-ball round on Saturday followed by a Chapman format round on Sunday. Winning teams in both divisions earned a $150 purse.
Jacobson and Johnson posted a 17-under-par total of 127 to win the Pre-Senior Championship. The duo opened with a 64 on Saturday before firing a final-round 63 to top the leaderboard.
In the Pre-Senior division’s local contingent, Rusty Remmers and Rich Remmers tied together for a two-day score of 156 after recording identical rounds of 78. Dave Rawdon and Ryan Briggs posted a 164 total with rounds of 83 and 81.
Ames and Ducanson won the Mid-Amateur Championship with a two-day score of 130. They built an early lead with a 12-under 60 on Saturday and closed with a 70 on Sunday to seal the victory.
Bob West and Colby West led the local entries in the Mid-Amateur field, placing 13th overall with a 146 total after back-to-back rounds of 73. Taylor Rymerson and Derek Moe carded a 158 (74-84), while Tyler VanHecke and Jordan Anderson finished at 160 (74-86).
