SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The Watertown girls tennis team fell to a pair of Sioux Falls opponents Tuesday, dropping matches to Lincoln and Jefferson.
Lincoln defeated Watertown 8-1 in the opening match. Grace Pesek earned the lone victory for the Arrows, taking down Evelyn Akkerman 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 in flight three singles.
Watertown dropped a narrow 5-4 decision to Jefferson in the second match of the day.
The Arrows claimed three singles victories against Jefferson. Jennika Kettwig defeated Kaia Pauli 10-9 (7-1) in flight two, Ella Pesek swept Brynn Pauli 10-0 in flight five, and Abby Anderson shut out Kensley Peterson 10-0 in flight six.
In doubles play, Ella Pesek and Lillian Fox earned Watertown’s only win, defeating Brynn Pauli and Kensley Peterson 10-3 in flight three.
Watertown (4-8) hosts Milbank in a dual Sept. 8 at Highland Park.
