SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The Watertown boys and girls cross country teams put on strong individual performances Friday at the Augustana Twilight XC Meet at Yankton Trail Park.
Dane Stark led the Arrow boys with a ninth-place individual finish, stopping the clock at 15 minutes, 40.70 seconds. Channing DeBoer was Watertown’s second finisher at 18:34.99, followed closely by Evan Mack (19:30.72), Logan Becker (19:31.62), and Grady Lindgren (20:01.55).
Sioux City North’s Kuma Gutema won the boys race with a time of 14:53.23, while Sioux Falls Lincoln captured the overall team title with 75 points.
On the girls side, Watertown placed seventh overall as a team with 369 points. Grace McElroy paced the squad, securing a ninth-place finish of her own with a time of 18:19.95. Lilly Gerlach rounded out the top two for the team at 19:43.09, followed by Kate McElroy (20:06.06), Olivia Anderson (20:35.24), Grace List (22:05.23), and Jayda Jensen (22:17.32).
Harrisburg claimed the girls team victory with a score of 82. Ruby Ihmels of Bismarck Century took individual gold, crossing the finish line in 16:46.39.
Watertown returns to competition Thursday, Sept. 10, at the Sahli Invite in Aberdeen.
