Arrows Cheer Claims Second, Dance Ties for Third at Pierre Spirit Invite

PIERRE, S.D. — The Watertown cheer squad secured a second-place finish with a score of 267.5 on Saturday at the Pierre Spirit Invite, while the dance team earned a second-place team finish.

Tea Area claimed the cheer championship with a score of 278.

Watertown cheer coach Malory Hoffmann praised the team’s technical progress following the event.

“The team showed continued improvement, especially with timing in standing tumbling and sharper execution throughout the pyramid,” Hoffmann said. “We have some changes planned for our cheer to help strengthen the overall routine before getting back to work and preparing for our next competition.”

In the dance division, Watertown earned second place overall with a score of 20, while Rapid City Central took home the grand championship.

The Watertown dance squad captured first place in jazz with a score of 253 and finished third in pom with a score of 246.5.

Both the Watertown cheer and dance teams will travel to compete at the Huron Invitational on Sept. 15.
