BROOKINGS, S.D. — The Watertown cheer and dance teams showed steady growth and sharp performances Saturday at the Brookings Invitational.
The Watertown cheer squad secured a seventh-place finish, earning a total score of 265 points. The performance marked a notable step forward for the team.
“We continued to make progress, increasing our score from last performance by around 30 points,” said cheer coach Malory Hoffman. “We had solid tumbling and stunts throughout the routine with a few errors in motions and formations that are very fixable. I’m proud of how hard the team worked this week and the improvements they continue to make.”
In dance competition, Watertown took 11th place overall, posting scores of 28 in jazz and 39 in pom.
“We had some audio issues and mistakes in the jazz routine,” said dance coach Carolyn Fraher. “However, it still looked overall strong. Pom looked really sharp and clean.”
Watertown returns to action Tuesday, Sept. 22, at the Brandon Valley Invitational.
