SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The Watertown fall fastpitch softball team saw its season come to an end at the 2026 South Dakota Advance Softball State Tournament, falling in back-to-back contests to the BV Blitz and Tea Area.
Watertown opened tournament play with a 6-1 loss against the BV Blitz. The Blitz capitalized on five hits to secure the first-round victory, while Watertown’s offense was kept at bay, managing just two hits on the day.
Samantha Fuller and Emmy Berglund provided the lone hits for the Arrows. Watertown’s solitary run came in the third inning when Shauna Evenson reached on an error, allowing Logan Schell to cross the plate. Macy Ingraham started in the circle for Watertown, throwing three innings and giving up five runs on four hits. Emma Caufield took the loss in relief.
Looking to bounce back in the second matchup, Watertown fought through a tight, seven-inning battle against Tea Area before ultimately dropping a 5-4 decision.
Tea Area’s Kallie Breuer delivered the game-winning RBI single in the seventh inning to seal the victory. Breuer finished 2-for-4 on the day, while teammate Lilian Turek also recorded a two-hit performance. Tea Area totaled four hits overall. Daphne Decker started for Tea Area, striking out five across five innings while allowing four runs on eight hits. Ahryana Drake earned the win in relief, shutting down the Arrows over the final frames with five strikeouts.
Watertown’s offense generated eight hits in the finale, led by Berglund, who went 2-for-3. Evenson, Leah Struckman, Ellie Hirsch, Takaya Erickson, Fuller, and Lauren Lester each added a hit.
Berglund got the start for Watertown, allowing two runs on two hits with four walks in two innings of work. Ingraham took the loss in relief, pitching five innings while giving up three runs on five hits and striking out four.
With the pair of losses in Sioux Falls, Watertown concludes its fall softball season with a 4-4-1 record.
