DAKOTA DUNES, S.D. — Several local golfers put together strong performances early this week as the South Dakota Golf Association hosted a stop of the Sanford International Series on Monday and Tuesday. The two-day tournament was split between Dakota Dunes Country Club and Hillcrest Golf and Country Club.
On the girls’ side, Brynn Roehrich of Watertown led the local field with a fourth-place finish. Roehrich carded a two-day total of 160 to secure her spot near the top of the leaderboard. Sage Gaikowski of Waubay also competed, finishing in 18th place with a total score of 186.
In the boys’ division, Max Stemwedel of Watertown paced the local competitors by claiming 16th place with a two-day score of 157. He was closely followed by Jonathan DeBoer of Twin Brooks, who finished 24th after carding a 158.
Other local finishers included Emmett Schwlesow of Clear Lake, who posted a 176, and Brecken Jungen of Watertown, who wrapped up the tournament with a 186.
