Watertown Post 17 splits day two at Creighton Prep Tournament

GRETNA, Neb. — Watertown Post 17 split a pair of games Thursday during the second day of the Creighton Prep Tournament, rebounding from a 7-0 shutout against Lincoln East to defeat site host Gretna 8-1.

Lincoln East 7, Watertown 0
In the opener, Lincoln East Post 3 rode a dominant pitching performance from Cade Anderson and a four-run seventh inning to blank Watertown. Anderson earned the win, scattering just two hits over five scoreless innings while striking out six. Dele Odulate paced the Lincoln East offense, going 2-for-4 with three RBIs.

Cole Hansen, Carter Buisker, Sam Olson, Kye Paulson, and Jaxon Falak each recorded a hit for Watertown. Hunter Halajian suffered the loss, allowing three runs on three hits with eight walks over 4 1/3 innings. Olson pitched 2 2/3 innings in relief, giving up four runs on four hits.

Watertown found its offensive rhythm in the second game, using a six-run fourth inning to pull away from Gretna.

Hansen and Cain Everson led the attack with two hits apiece, with Everson driving in two runs. Markus Pitkin anchored the middle of the lineup, driving in three runs. Jackson McClemens earned the complete-game victory, limiting Gretna to one run on three hits while striking out four.

Liam Jones took the loss for Gretna Post 216, surrendering eight runs and nine hits over five innings. Layton Parrack, Joe Onwiler, and Grady Fish each collected a hit for Gretna.
