CASTLEWOOD, S.D. — Josh Cleveland pitched nine innings of one run ball to lead Lake Norden past Milbank in the District 1B Amateur Baseball Tournament.
Cleveland allowed just two hits while striking out seven throwing 153 pitches to earn the win.
The Lakers backed up Cleveland with a nine hit night led my Mick Tulson who would go two for five at the plate with four RBIs. Kale Stevenson and Hunter Janzen would also chip in two hits. The Lakers would also take advantage of four Milbank errors in the contest.
The two Firechiefs hits would come from Joe Schulte and Tanner Hallquist. Hallquist tallied the lone RBI. Kaden Krause took the loss on the hill allowing six runs on five hits, striking out three and walking four over four innings. Brady Krause pitched five innings of one run ball, scattering four hits and striking out six.
Lake Norden will join Clark, Castlewood and Volga representing District 1B at the 2026 South Dakota State Amateur Baseball Tournament August 5 through August 16, 2026 in Mitchell. With the loss, Milbank will end their season with a record of 10-7.
Due to the threat of rain on Thursday, the District 1B championship game between Castlewood and Volga has been moved to Friday at 7:30 p.m.
