HURON, S.D. — The Watertown girls tennis team swept a pair of tight matches Saturday at the Huron Tri, grinding out 5-4 victories over both Pierre and host Huron.
In the opening match against Pierre, the Arrows picked up three singles victories from Elly Dingsor, Victoria Bobzien, and Ella Pesek. Watertown secured the team win in doubles play with victories from the pairs of Dingsor and Jennika Kettwig, alongside Pesek and Lillian Fox.
Watertown matched that performance in the afternoon session against Huron, securing another 5-4 win. Dingsor, Kettwig, and Ella Pesek notched singles wins, while the teams of Dingsor-Kettwig and Grace Pesek-Victoria Bobzien earned crucial victories in doubles.
With the pair of wins, Watertown improves to 9-8 on the season and return home Sept. 15 to host a triangular against Sioux Falls Roosevelt and Harrisburg.
