Watertown Girls and Boys Soccer Roll Huron

HURON, S.D. — The Watertown soccer teams picked up a pair of dominant victories against Huron on Saturday, capped by a twelve-goal explosion from the girls squad and a clean sheet from the undefeated boys team.

The Watertown girls (4-4-1) offense fired on all cylinders, rolling to a 12-1 victory over the Tigers.

Sophia Gallardo and Bo Meidinger led the scoring attack, each recording a hat trick with three goals. Claire Schochenmaier added two goals, while Avery Dorneman, Khloe Landmark, Isabelle Gerlach, and Kyndal Bender each scored once to power the offense.

Lauren Tesch, Isabelle Gerlach, Claire Schochenmaier, and Sophia Wishard each tallied two assists, with single assists coming from Berkley Fligge, Sophia Gallardo, and Ari Snyder.

In the boys match, the No. 4 ranked Watertown Arrows (8-0-1) kept their unbeaten streak intact with a 4-0 blanking of Huron.

Isaac Thorson paced the offense with two goals, while Xane Fligge and Kasen Bender added one goal apiece. Carson Schlaht was the primary playmaker for the Arrows, setting up three of the four goals with assists, while Dawson Hartman provided one assist.

Goalkeeper Owen Muller earned the shutout in net for Watertown, stopping all three shots he faced.

Both Watertown teams stay on the road for their next match, traveling to face Sioux Falls Jefferson on Tuesday.
