PIERRE, S.D. — Area golfers posted strong individual showings over the weekend at the South Dakota Golf Association Pre-Senior, Senior and Masters Championships, held Saturday and Sunday at Hillsview Golf Course.
In the Pre-Senior Championship, Bob West of Watertown claimed third place, finishing with a two-day total of 3-over-par 145 after rounds of 74 and 71. Michael Keeton of Pierre won the division title with a 2-under-par 142 (66-76). Watertown’s Brooks Henderson also competed in the division, finishing with a two-round score of 186.
Watertown golfers earned two top-five spots in the Senior Championship. Jason Pieper finished third with a 155 (72-76), while Duane Broek took fifth place with a 157 (79-78). Scott Holm of Brookings took the overall Senior title, posting a two-day score of 146 (74-72).
In the Masters Championship, Scott Hardie of Watertown earned a fourth-place finish with a score of 157 (78-79). Bill Carland of Sioux Falls won the overall Masters title with a 147 (75-72).
In the Senior Rushmore Division, Mike Keszler of Watertown finished 17th with a 181 (87-94), and Dale Nelson of Florence placed 20th with a 192 (93-99). Bill Schaefer of Yankton captured the division title with a 153 (76-77).
Jesse Mendoza of Eagle Butte claimed the Masters Oahe Division championship, finishing with a two-day total of 160 (79-81).
