WATERTOWN, S.D. — Three Watertown Shamrocks were selected Tuesday during the 21-round 2026 United States Hockey League Draft.
Forward Daniel Halonen was the first member of the Shamrocks to be taken, going to the Madison Capitols in the second round with the 28th overall pick. Halonen appeared in 15 total games for Watertown this season, including three playoff appearances, tallying five goals and two assists. After joining the club in March, he recorded a goal in each of his first four games.
In the 12th round, the Green Bay Gamblers used the 191st overall selection to claim forward Owen Fask. The Elmhurst, Illinois, native joined the Shamrocks as a tender before the 2025-26 season and went on to rank 10th on the team in points with 23 and fifth in goals with 13. Fask’s production placed him 38th in scoring league-wide among skaters born in 2007, and he led the team with two goals during the Robertson Cup Playoffs.
Forward Jake Pietila was the final Shamrock off the board, selected by the Fargo Force in the 13th round with the 205th overall pick. A product of Hartland, Michigan, Pietila recorded 16 points during the season to rank 13th on the team. He finished 14th in the league in scoring among 2008-born players and added a goal and an assist during the postseason.
With Tuesday’s results, the Shamrocks have seen eight players drafted into the USHL over the past two years, following a five-player class in 2025.
