WATERTOWN, S.D. — Watertown Shamrocks goaltender JJ Salajko has announced his commitment to play NCAA Division I hockey at Michigan State University.
Salajko is the fourth player on the current Shamrocks roster to commit to a Division I program, joining Daniel Halonen (Michigan Tech), Andrew Smulkstys (Alaska-Fairbanks), and Erick Comstock (Augustana).
A native of Columbus, Ohio, Salajko is in his first season with the Shamrocks. Since being acquired from the Waterloo Black Hawks of the United States Hockey League in November, he has appeared in 16 games. Salajko holds a 6-7-0-1 record with a 3.77 goals-against average and an .886 save percentage. He earned his first win with the organization on Nov. 29 in an 8-2 victory over the Minot Minotauros.
The Michigan State Spartans compete in the Big Ten Conference. During the 2025-26 season, the Spartans finished 26-9-2 overall and won the Big Ten regular-season title with a 16-6-2 conference record. Michigan State advanced to the NCAA tournament, defeating UConn 2-1 before losing in the regional final.
