WATERTOWN, S.D.—Watertown Post 17 pitcher Hunter Halajian has announced his commitment to continue his baseball and academic career at Northeast Iowa Community College.
Halajian is putting together a standout 2026 season on the mound, anchoring the Post 17 pitching staff. Through 58 innings pitched so far this summer, the left-hander has posted a 6-2 win-loss record, racking up 66 strikeouts while maintaining a 3.02 ERA and a 1.36 WHIP.
“Hunter is a player we knew had the potential to be special long before many people started to notice,” Head Coach Ryan Neale said. “Behind the scenes, he has put in countless hours to transform himself into a complete pitcher. He’s worked incredibly hard to get stronger, increase his velocity, and refine every aspect of his game.”
According to Neale, Hunter’s relentless work ethic is what truly sets him apart from other prospects.
“Northeast Iowa Community College is getting a pitcher with tremendous upside and an even better work ethic,” Neale said. “Hunter is the type of player who will continue to improve because of the time and effort he invests in himself every day. We couldn’t be more excited for him, and I have no doubt he’s going to have a very successful college career.”
