WATERTOWN, S.D. — Sioux Falls golfers Carter Knigge and Faith Skelton claimed the top spots as the South Dakota Golf Association Mini and Prep Tours stopped at Cattail Crossing Golf Course on Tuesday.
Knigge secured the boys 16-18 division title by shooting an even-par 72. Watertown’s Brecken Jungen also competed in the division, finishing with an 81.
In the girls 16-18 division, Skelton took first place with a 5-over-par 77. Waubay’s Sage Gaikowski led local competitors in the division, placing fifth with an 86.
Liam Johnson of Groton earned the top spot in the boys 14-15 division, carding an 80. He narrowly edged out Greyson Zebroski of Watertown, who finished just one stroke behind at 81. Other local finishers included Logan Borns of Clark (84), Riley Randall of Watertown (86), Carver Horn of Castlewood (87), and Jackson Ahmann of Watertown (92).
In the girls 14-15 division, Ava Bain of Sioux Falls took first place with a 90. Reese Jacobson of Bryant finished a close second with a 91, followed by Watertown’s Emma Olson in fourth with a 94 and Macie Stein with a 109.
Matthew Darling of Aberdeen won the boys 12-13 division with a 75. Madden Stein of Watertown placed fifth with an 82, leading a local group that included Sam VanLaecken (88), Brody Palmquist (94), and Brody Sternhagen (102).
Watertown’s Paisley Neale secured a hometown victory in the girls 12-13 division, taking the top spot with a 50. Lydia Schafer of Watertown placed third with a 54, and Riley Jacobson of Bryant finished fourth with a 58.
In the boys 10-11 division, Luke Snyder of Aberdeen won first place after carding a 42. Rudy Stutzman of Watertown finished second, matching Snyder with a 42. Graham Mancell (45) and Luke VanLaecken (66), both of Watertown, also competed.
Merrick Boyden of Hartford was the top golfer in the girls 10-11 division, finishing with a 46.
In the boys 9 and under division, Watertown’s Ethan Stein shot an even-par 36 to claim the top spot. He was followed by a strong contingent of local golfers, including Andrew Stein (47), Camdyn Phillips (47), Carson Wahl (49), and Winston Ksenych (54).
Zoey Zeigler of Winner took top honors in the girls 9 and under division with a 46. Cynthia Graeb of Willow Lake placed second with a 60, and Kollin Neale of Watertown finished third with a 63.
