WATERTOWN, S.D. — It was a tale of two different games Saturday at Watertown Stadium as the Watertown baseball team dominated Sioux Falls Washington in a shortened opener before grinding out a walk-off victory in the nightcap.
Game 1: Watertown 15, Sioux Falls Washington 0 (4 innings)
Ashton Rabine tossed a one-hit shutout and struck out four to lead the Arrows to a 15-0 victory in a game shortened by the run rule.
The Watertown offense provided plenty of support, led by Carter Buisker, who went 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Jaxon Falak also drove in three runs, while Markus Pitkin added two RBIs on one hit.
Caden Sporrer recorded the lone hit for Washington. Sajen Haas took the loss, surrendering 10 runs on seven hits in two innings.
Game 2: Watertown 9, Sioux Falls Washington 8
Kooper Heiser delivered a walk-off sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift Watertown to a 9-8 win and complete the sweep.
The Arrows’ 12-hit attack was anchored by Jonathan Lake, who finished 3-for-4 with an RBI. Cole Hansen, Pitkin, and Buisker each contributed two hits in the win. Buisker also earned the win in relief, allowing just one hit. Tripp Jorgenson pitched four innings in a starting role, striking out eight while allowing five runs on eight hits.
The Warriors were led by Caleb Bumann, who drove in four runs, and Brekken Biteler, who went 3-for-5. Tyler Ringheimer, Sporrer, and Kylar White each had multi-hit performances.
Briar Rave started for Washington, allowing three runs on four hits across four innings. Paxton Olson was charged with the loss.
